How we verify company profiles

 Last updated 2026-09-08.

A company appears in the BedGuide directory only if it is active on
Companies House and has a working official website we have checked. This
directory lists 102 profiles. A listing is a reference. It is not an
endorsement, a ranking, or an advert.

## What must be true before we list a firm?

The Companies House status must be active. The official website must
resolve when we check it. We skip administration, liquidation and dead
domains. We do not take a fee to join, to stay, or to be described
      kindly.

## Which websites qualify?

A business needs its own working website showing a relevant bed, mattress or bedding range
and clear contact details. Shops built with Shopify, WooCommerce or other website software
can qualify. We do not include businesses with only a social account, marketplace storefront
or link-in-bio page. Verified Facebook, Instagram, Amazon and eBay links can support an
      eligible website’s profile.

We match the legal seller named by the website to its register record. A finance provider,
similarly named company or unrelated group subsidiary is not a substitute. A registered
office is not automatically a showroom or factory that customers can visit.

## How complete is the directory?

The 102 profiles are a checked selection, not a census of every UK seller. We add
businesses as the identity, website and range checks are completed. A missing entry does
not imply a problem with a business. [Town and region pages](/companies/cities/)
grow from the same checked records.

## Does a business need an affiliate programme?

No. Directory eligibility does not depend on a commission arrangement. The public links
are ordinary references. We receive no commission when you follow them, and businesses
cannot buy a higher position or favourable wording.

## What do we publish on a profile?

Legal name, town, region, kind (factory, manufacturer, retailer or
direct-to-consumer), a short explainer, notable product lines for
education, and a link to the official site. We do not publish prices or
star ratings. We do not take commission when you follow the link.

## What about future advertising?

Businesses can [register interest in future advertising](/partners/).
Paid bookings are not open. An enquiry cannot buy a profile, a verification
badge, favourable wording or a higher place in the standard directory.
Any future paid space would be separate and clearly labelled as an advertisement.

## Why we do not compare brands

A company profile is an identity check. It is not a mattress review.
We will not rank Silentnight against Dreams, or list which factory
“wins”. Soft, medium and firm are not a shared scale. Ranges change.
A score would pretend we tested products. We did not. Compare
[types](/compare/) instead. Browse factories, makers,
      retailers and direct brands as
[searched topics](/browse/).

## Who should skip the directory?

Skip it if you want a “best brand” table or a live stock list. Use the
company’s own site for current ranges. Use Companies House for filings.
Download the table as CSV from
[open data](/open-data/).

## How can a company ask to be listed?

Email the facts we can check: legal name, Companies House number,
official website, and town. We still run the same two checks. A
message is a request, not a paid slot. The step-by-step list is on
[how to get a company profile](/method/get-listed/).

## How can a company correct a fact?

Email the editor with evidence. We will correct a wrong fact. We will
not sell wording, placement, rank or removal. A later commercial
product, if one exists, would not buy a higher place in this list.
