# Sleep Trial

> A sleep trial is a shop’s time limit for returning or swapping a mattress after you sleep on it at home. Trials often run from 14 to 200 nights, depending on the seller. They are shop rules, not a legal grade of quality. Many need a protector, a minimum number of nights first, and set collection rules.

**Definition.** A sleep trial is a shop’s set time to try a mattress at home and return or swap it if you dislike the feel.

Also called: mattress trial, comfort guarantee, trial period.

A trial is about comfort. A warranty is about faults. They are separate
promises.

Your legal right to cancel most online orders within 14 days of delivery is
separate from any trial.
