# Hybrid Mattress

> A hybrid mattress combines springs with foam or latex layers. Most use a pocket spring core with foam on top. Some place small springs above foam instead. The word hybrid does not describe one fixed build. Compare the layer diagram, spring type, depth, weight and the base the maker approves before you choose.

**Definition.** A hybrid mattress combines a spring unit with foam or latex layers. The exact layer stack varies a lot between models.

Also called: hybrid, spring and foam mattress.

Many hybrids are roll-packed and delivered in a box. Others arrive flat like a
traditional mattress.

Some shops call the same idea a combination mattress. Read the layers, not the
name.
