Two frames made from different materials can use similar wooden slats underneath. Solid wood means timber through the section being described. Veneer is a thin layer of real wood over another material. A wood-effect foil is a decorative surface. Compare published load limits for the exact size. Ask whether the limit includes the mattress. Also check the number and placement of centre legs and the required floor contact. A label such as “king size” gives mattress dimensions, not a strength rating. Imagine two king frames with the same appearance. One has a centre beam resting on correctly fitted legs. The other is missing its supplied centre legs. The material name does not resolve that difference. Comparing a complete assembled structure is more useful than comparing “wood” against “metal”.
