It may be a fabric bed frame, a covered divan box or an ottoman with a lifting mattress platform. Upholstery describes the finish. It does not define the mattress support underneath. For example, “king velvet ottoman bed” tells you a UK mattress size, a fabric style and a storage mechanism. It leaves several questions unanswered. Is the platform slatted? Measure the full width including wings, the height from the floor and the projection from the wall. Then check sockets, light switches, bedside tables and windows.
