# How to Assemble a Divan Bed

> A UK divan often arrives as two half bases plus feet, drawers and a headboard. Fit glider feet or legs first. Stand the halves side by side and join them with linking bolts or plates so the top is flat. Add drawers, then attach a strutted or floor-standing headboard. Place the mattress last.

## Step-by-step

### 1. Unpack and sort

Lay out left and right halves (labels often mark head end), feet, bolts, drawers
and headboard parts. Compare with the parts list.

### 2. Fit feet or gliders

Tip each half carefully (two people). Screw glider feet or legs into the marked
sockets. All feet should match in height so the bed does not rock.

### 3. Join the halves

1. Stand halves with the centre faces together.  
2. Align the linking holes or plates.  
3. Fit bolts and washers as shown on the sheet.  
4. Tighten until the top surfaces meet flush — not until fabric tears.

### 4. Fit drawers

Slide drawers onto runners. Check same-side versus foot-end layouts still have

### 5. Attach the headboard

floor-standing methods. Many divans have sockets at the head end.

### 6. Mattress last

Centre the mattress. On platform tops, confirm it does not slide; some tops are
anti-slip faced.
